Engagement and empowerment? Engagement students are those students who are seeking to connect Jewish-ly and have yet to do so. First Year Students of Hillel is an interest group specifically designed to engage freshmen. We work closely with res-life to create programming in the dorms. Engagement goes beyond just meeting freshman. There are many other Jewish students on the U of Oregon campus who have yet to be reached out to. Engagement is about getting to know these students as well and helping to create programming that that will capture their interest and engage them in campus Jewish life. There is a core group of students who are empowered "Jewish-ly". They are either on the student community board, they frequently participate in programs or they take initiative in planning programs. My Responsibilities include: 1.) Engagement:
-identifying new Jewish students on campus and getting to know them
-working with FYSH interest group to engage first year students
-programming for Jewish Professionals and Graduate Students
-identifying ideas for new interest groups and programs
-"table-ing"-sitting at a table on campus with information and meeting students
2.) Publicity:
-advertisement ( fliers, ads, e-mails etc.)
-calling students to invite them to events
- coodinating programing with on-campus organizations
3.) Administrative roles:
-attending weekly staff meetings
-attending Torah study on Fridays
-attending Student Community Board meetings
-assisting Executive Director, Student Life Coordinator and Office Administrator on projects as requested
