Jewish Professionals and Graduate Students "Tea and Sweets"

"PAGS" refers to Jewish Professionals and Graduate Students. It is generally composed of people who are btwn the ages of 22-35 years old. Quite an eclectic group of people! The law school and business school are good resources for finding and engaging graduate students. There are bulletin boards in both of these schools that I hang up flyers on. Once a month "PAGS" gets together to do an activity. For the 2002-2003 school year, I have coordinated programming. Some "PAGS" have offered to help with and to have a program at their house. For the most part, "PAGS" don't seem to have a lot of time but they do enjoy social programs. Weekends are a good time to plan programs for this group. There is a "PAGS" listserve that is successful at communicating with them.

Programs:

Wine and Cheese Party

This was the PAGS beginning of the year "kick off"event. For many people, this was their first ever PAGS event. We had a variety of different kosher cheeses and wines ( not all kosher). It was a fairly informal event but gave people the chance to meet eachother. Approximately 20 people attended.

Jews and Brews

We met at Hillel to celebrate Havdallah and then went to a local bar where Hillel baught each PAG a drink. This was a social program which also integrated Jewish content. 10 people attended.

Havdallah, Pizza and Jewish Movie Doble Feature

We did this at a "PAGS" house. 3 local pizza joints donated a pizza each for a "Pizza Tasting Contest". We ate pizza, celebrated Havdallah and then watched "A time of Favor" and another Jewish movie. 8 people attended.
